For this unit of Sparkade 15, we had to create a piece of jewelry for the grade 10 STEM IA 3-D printing competition. We can to use either Tinker-CAD or Fusion 360 to design and 3D print the piece.
This includes the research of other jewelry pieces and aspect I would like to use to create mine.
Using the research I sketched a design for my own piece of jewelry which I will create in TinkerCAD
Using the research, I sketched a design for my own piece of jewelry which I will later use to design in TinkerCAD.
The first prototype
The most enjoyable moment of this project was when I was brainstorming the earrings. I wanted each aspect to highlight each other and work well as a jewelry piece. This thinking and puzzling moment of the project was the most enjoyable because of the thrill and possibilities that I could use to construct.
This project helped developed my critical thinking and creativity through the 3D modelling of the assignment. Creating each component on TinkerCAD added both excitement and nervousness because of the idea of bringing my creation to life and seeing how it would look with the model.
Areas of risk include the final piece after printing, in the first print, I had underestimated how small 3D printing is compared to the TinkerCAD model and the small pieces which I want to put did not work. Afterwards, I had to adjust and remove some pieces for the final exhibition to be ready.
I would have changed how the hooks of the earring connected to the jewelry piece. Rather than be connected through the hook, I would have created a support for it instead to make it look nicer.
